The Monolith. 2003. Computer cluster that listens to, interprets and speaks the internet. The scripts download random audio streams from the internet, and - regardless of the source - use a speech recognition engine to transcribe them into an English text. At the same time the cluster constructs a voice by cutting up the audio streams themselves into individual phonetic sounds which it files away. The Monolith then speaks it's English text by pasting together the relevant phonetic sound files. As soon as a phonetic file is used it is erased. The whole process is continuous and endless.
